Q.  What is the recommended number of guests for a birthday party?

A.  At Sugar & Spice we have learned that an 8 to 9 girl party (your princess being the 9th child) works best for a wide variety of ages. This allows the birthday girl to invite quite a few of her friends but also allow her to not feel overwhelmed.

Q.  What is the recommended age for birthday girls?

A.  At Sugar & Spice we found that 3 – 4 is about the youngest age that can truly enjoy all the aspects of the parties that Sugar & Spice offers. However, that being said, we have very mature 3 year olds who just LOVE it and we also have done parties for girls through about 14 that still enjoy being a star. Of course, if you are not sure if your daughter would enjoy a party at Sugar & Spice, we invite you to drop by anytime during open hours and we would be happy to give you tour and walk you through a typical party set up.

Q.  What is the length of a birthday party?

A.  A birthday party is scheduled for an hour and half and parents are asked to arrive to pick up our birthday attendees an hour and half after the scheduled start time of the party.

Q.  What time should I get there before my party starts?

A.  Because Sugar & Spice is an all inclusive party boutique, we recommend you come no earlier then 15 minutes before your scheduled party time. This allows us to finish up the details of getting your party ready and make sure everything is perfect before you walk in the door!

Q.  What is the deposit/cost of booking a birthday party?

A.  A $50.00 deposit is taken prior to the date of the party to reserve the time and date. The deposit is then subtracted from the overall party balance.

Q.  How far in advance should I book my daughters party or special date?

A.  While there is no minimum advanced booking rule, we do suggest in order to reserve the time and date that you want, you should book your party with your deposit as soon as you know the day and time you would like. We know times are busy and schedules are complex, the sooner you can get the date and time on everyone’s calendar, the better turn out you will have. This will help to make your special girls party the best it can be!

Q.  What does the cost of a birthday party include and what takes place?

A.  The cost of the birthday party packages include a makeover for each child, use of the costume and stage where the paparazzi comes out and a fashion show takes place. Cupcakes are provided and a Happy Birthday celebration occurs around our Sugar & Spice party table. The birthday girl opens her presents on the stage before we dance together on the Sugar & Spice stage. Before the guests leave every child is given a nylon Sugar & Spice backpack and picks goodies from our goodie station. Each participant also takes home their chosen hair piece used during their make-over.

Q.  Do decorations need to be purchased or brought in?

A.  Sugar & Spice offers balloon bouquets as an optional add-on for all party packages. Sugar & Spice’s bright and fun atmosphere makes decorations optional, but not necessary. We welcome all birthday girls and their families to come in to Sugar & Spice and take a tour before their event takes place. This allows for a time for familiarity with the venue and any questions to be answered.

Q.  Do I have to bring in additional goodies?

A.  Since Sugar & Spice supplies the goodies and the bags for each attendee (and additional can be purchased), we have not found the need for the parent to bring in additional goodies. Of course, if the parent would like to bring in additional goodies for each child, we would be happy to make sure each goodie is received by the child.

Q.  What is the cancellation policy?

A.  A confirmation call is placed by the Wednesday before an event. At this time the number of attendees for an event will be confirmed and recorded in the reservation. The number confirmed at this time will be the number of guest charged for.

Q.  Does cake or tableware need to be supplied?

A.  Sugar & Spice supplies all tableware and cupcakes for the birthday girl and party guests.

Q.  If a party guest does not show up, does the cost change?

A.  When confirmation calls are place the Wednesday before all events a number will be confirmed and made note of in your reservation. This is the number in which you will be charged for on party day. We suggest purchasing Sugar & Spice invitations and thank you cards to help stir up interest in the party and also help in the confirmation of a final number by using RSVPs.

Q.  What is the Spa Creation Station?

A.  The Spa Creation is a “Create-your-own” Sugar Scrub and/ or Lotion Station. Guests are able to combine glitter and a blend of fruity scented lotions and ice cream scented scrubs to create their own concoction to take home. These creations are not edible but are fun to enjoy in or after the bathtub. The cost of the Spa Creation is $6.00 for the full size (6 oz), $3.00 for the smaller size (3 oz).

Q.  What if my child has skin or food allergies?

A.  If your child has skin allergies, we ask that you share this with us in advance so we will have time to look into what parts of the makeover we need to alter in order for your child to not feel excluded. If your child has food allergies we have found that a lunchbox packed with food items safe for your child to consume is the best option. In additional, each spa creation is labeled with the included ingredients for your review before using.

Q.  As a parent of the birthday girl, what do I need to bring?

A.  Sugar & Spice provides everything needed to give your princess, pop star or fairy a great birthday. However, we do suggest bringing your camera and/or video camera, as it truly is a celebration to remember.

Q.  Do the parents have to stay during the birthday party?

A.  While the parents of the attendees are not required to stay, the parents of the birthday girl are required to stay for safety purposes. We also encourage host parents to get the phone numbers of each parent not staying in case an emergency arises. There are many additional places to visit while at Sugar & Spice in The Village Place complex: The Coffee Bar, Big Dog Hot Dogs, Red Arrow Wine and Cigar Shop, and Taco Bob’s are just a few of the fun places in our complex.

Q.  What if we run out of time?

A.  While we make every effort to allow time for each and every task, there may be times, due to unforeseen circumstances that we may have to send the birthday girl home with her unwrapped gifts due to time constraints. We may also have to eliminate organized dancing at the end of the party due to time constraints. That is part of the job of the party hostess to make sure the party is running on time leaving plenty of time for all the fun events at Sugar & Spice.
